Use own customized maps (FastObjectIntMap, FastStringObjectMap) as indices to improve lookup performance and eliminate unnecessary boxing.
Optimize lots of allocation hotspots to drastically reduce the number of short-lived object allocations.
Substitute standard library hash maps with more performant versions in Libgdx to avoid unnecessary allocation of Node and boxed Integer objects in the millions.
Use own Bits instead of BitSet to enable direct access to underlying long values.
Avoid recomputation of star size factors every frame.
Drastic improvement in label rendering performance, which includes a refactoring and re-implementation of the background particle/star updater tasks.
Use half-precision floating point numbers (16-bit) for several in-memory non-critical particle and star attributes (muAlpha, muDelta, radial velocity, apparent magnitude, absolute magnitude, effective temperature) to reduce memory footprint with minor penalty.
Flatten all particle data holders into different Java records for the different types to improve memory footprint and layout.
Move old ParticleRecord and VariableRecord classes to a new Particle record class, which is immutable by default and better suited for tabular data. Remove unused attributes like the octant reference.
Move implementation of PointCloudData to records. This implementation makes itmore compact memory-wise and uses only one array list instead of four.
Distribute star/particle set operation into two frames instead of 1. We move the metadata update operation to the first frame, and the sorting to the second frame.

Folders used for background images are now scanned into the database with foreground image folders. Monitor going to sleep will now not close JPEG Saver when running in windowed mode. Config dialog will now display a warning message before running defragmentation. Fixed crash when shutting down and metadata scan running. Fixed crash in Desktop Helper when database update starts while metadata scan running. Fixed crash in loader thread leaving JPEG Saver running but unable to load images. Fixed folder lock not consistently locking to folder. Fixed list info item displaying incorrect values.
